The Christmas season has began, so the Christmas tress and parols are being lighted.

Carmen, Agusan del Norte

This season of giving is very important to each Filipino. For us, this is the time to really give our love and care to our loved ones (though everyday should be a season of love). We have this tradition of celebrating the Christmas with utmost gratitude.

“We think that Christmas is the right time to offer back the blessings we receive year-round to the Lord.”

That is why, on December 3, 2018, I decided to set another adventure to the popular town of Carmen to witness there prestigious Christmas lights.

Lights during Christmas serve not only as decorations but also as a symbol of enlightenment. Traditionally, Filipinos during this season tried to reconcile with their loved ones whom they have conflict with. We fell incomplete to start a New Year with unresolved grudges. In my country, welcoming the New Year without resolving conflict is a bad omen for everyone. Meaning, if you start the year with conflict - it would also mean ending the year with conflict. That is why, forgiving those who have sinned against us and asking forgiveness to those we sinned are the most significant impacts of the spirit of Christmas. Christmas is indeed as season of reconciliation.
